Animals in Cold Places

This half term, Reception begin their work on Frozen Worlds. This week they learnt lots about animals who live in the Arctic. Children used a non-fiction text, looking at the contents page to identify which animal they wanted to find facts about.

They learnt that arctic foxes change the colour of their fur in summer to camouflage themselves, that owls have sharp 'talons' and that polar bears hunt seals. Children wrote these into their own fact books.

We have new Brio construction sets in class, which the children are thoroughly enjoying. We have been so impressed by their creations, including trucks, cranes and levers.
