Sele First School is situated in the heart of Hexham surrounded by the beautiful Sele Park and the historic buildings of Hexham Abbey.  We aim to provide an exciting, motivating and high quality education for every child through effective organisation, committed knowledgeable staff, challenging expectations and high standards.

Our school has a very strong community spirit.  We have several long-established home-school partnerships including Reading Buddy and Maths Buddy programmes delivered by volunteers and Early Birds and after school clubs that include sports coaching and additional curriculum activities.

Sele First School has a committed Governing Body; Sele School Club offering before and after school care and an extremely supportive Friends of Sele who all contribute positively to the ethos of our school.  We have close links with local and regional cultural agencies, sports networks, churches and community groups.

We strive to encourage the children to look beyond the school and learn about their world in the broadest sense.  In the same way we do this as staff.  We work with other schools in our Alliance and across the region; we help train teaching and support staff in schools and we deliver leadership programmes and school to school support.

At Sele First School, school leaders and Governors believe that everyone involved in our school has the right to expect the best efforts from all.  They believe that for a child every second counts in ensuring that the children are well prepared for the next stage in their journey; that children are confident, resilient and can do in their attitude to learning; that they are safe and happy in school.
