Children's Mental Health Week 2025
This week, we were delighted to have taken part in Children’s Mental Health Week 2025, joining schools across the country in exploring this year’s theme: Know Yourself, Grow Yourself. Understanding who we are—our emotions, strengths, and values—helps us to build resilience, form strong relationships, and navigate life’s ups and downs with confidence.
Nursery enjoyed a session of play and fun with their friends on the big yard. The children said they enjoyed this and want to do it again. One child said that it made them feel great! The children took part in yoga sessions and mindful focus activities. Snack and chat time has had a focus of the children being encouraged to have a go at chopping their own fruit, helping each other and talking about the things they like to do. The children talked about what makes them special and what they enjoy doing.
Reception loved Sele Spa! They relaxed with warm water and cucumber eye patches, filled a happiness jar with things that made them happy, wrote positive notes to friends and siblings across school and wound down with books, blankets and cushions on the carpet.
Year 1 painted portraits of people who make them happy and created a giant map filled with their favourite places. Children made friendship bracelets and danced to pop music.
Year 2 came up with a list of activities they enjoy doing for their wellbeing and took part in many of these across the week. They created artwork to show their likes and dislikes. Children filled a sparkle jar, reflecting on the things that make them happy, laugh and are grateful for.
Year 3 took part in yoga sessions and created their own 'islands' linked to the film Inside Out.
On Wellbeing Wednesday, Year 4 started the day with some ‘writing for pleasure’ in which they were able to express themselves in any way they wanted. After break time, they went for a wellbeing walk in nature, taking time to notice wildlife and appreciate conversation with their partners.
