Fruit and Vegetables in Reception

To support our work on growing, Reception visited the Fruit and Vegetable stall in the Marketplace on Monday and bought different fruit and vegetables! They looked at the seeds inside fruit and began growing some cress. We talked about what plants need to grow. Next week, we will be using compost to plant a variety of seedlings.

Linked to this, children set up their own vegetable stall in roleplay, where they have been very busy taking orders and buying food.

On the Creative Table, children created fruit faces inspired by Gieuseppe Arcimboldo.

In Maths, their focus was doubling using a range of manipulatives including dominoes and part-part-whole models. Some children have begun writing number sentences.
