Poetry in Year 3

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about poetry. On Thursday, we had a visit from Dr Martin Dubois, an expert in poetry! He talked to us about how poetry might look different on a page to a story, and how it's meant to be read aloud. He shared with us a poem about the different names for rain by Kate Wakeling. We especially loved 'tongue tickler' as a name for rain!

We have also been writing our own poetry based on Miroslav Holub's The Door. We practised our poems and recited them on stage in our new performance zone on the yard.
