Reception in the Art Studio

Reception thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Art Studio on Tuesday. They took along their clay pumpkins to paint and loved making shadow puppets.

In the classroom and outside, autumn is in full swing. Children are enjoying making art inspired by autumnal colours and seasonal changes.

In Maths, their topic was 5. They identified 5 in different common patterns, e.g. on the fingers of a hand and on a dice pattern. They sorted manipulates into ‘5’ or ‘not 5’. Some children counted, practising their one-to-one correspondence, other children added two amounts together on the dominoes, e.g. ‘it’s 5 because it’s 4 and 1’.
