Reception's study of Clementine Hunter

In Take One Picture this year, Reception's complimentary artist is Clementine Hunter. Entirely self-taught, she is known for her vibrant oil paintings depicting her life.

Children talked about the people in the paintings and their homes - they noticed that it looked hot and that they were cooking outside. They talked about how their houses were different, or how they may use a car whilst the people in the picture used a horse and cart.

We used oil pastels to create interpretations of some of her art and used our time in the Art Studio on Tuesday to sculpt clay people.
