Year Three rugby stars win Gold!
On a weekend where Newcastle United will proudly show off their recent Carabao Cup victory, our Y3 Tag Rugby team made sure they weren't the only side in the North East with silverware. Taking part in the Sporting Journeys KS2 Tag Rugby festival, the young Sele team went unbeaten and finished as the competitions 'most outstanding team.'
With three groups of four teams, Sele needed to finish top or 'best second' out of the three groups to make the semi finals. With some excellent play, Sele managed to top the group and played Slaley in the semi final before Corbridge in the final.
The final was end to end, a real good advert for rugby, finishing a tie. A quick game of rock, paper, scissors then ensued to see who got first possession in extra time, with first to score, crowned winners. Sele won rock, paper, scissors and scored quickly through Oscar.
All of the boys were outstanding throughout the festival and even the rain couldn't dampen their spirits as they celebrated with their medals!
