We are a larger than average, three form entry first school for children aged 3-9 with 405 on roll, set in the heart of Hexham in the Tyne Valley.

 

Head Teacher

L18 to L24 (£75,675 - £87,651)

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and ambitious leader to guide The Sele First School into its next phase of educational excellence.


The Governors are looking to appoint a leader who will inspire children, challenge our team, and build on the strong foundations built by our leaders. We are looking for a head teacher who has the passion and vision to drive our school onwards so we can provide the best educational and social outcomes for all our children.


As headteacher you will benefit from the support of an experienced deputy headteacher and highly knowledgeable staff team.

First and foremost, you will be an exceptional teacher with a commitment to ensuring progress and attainment for all children. You are likely to already be a successful Headteacher or senior leader with a proven track record of impact and improvement. We are looking for someone who sets high standards, embraces innovation, and understands that excellence is a journey.


Your role will encompass the strategic leadership of teaching and learning, effective organisation of school operations, and the ability to inspire and support an experienced and talented team of colleagues. Strong communication and relationship-building skills will be essential, as you engage with children, families, staff, and the wider community to uphold our values and vision.

Caretaker (Band 2 Non Supervisory)

We are seeking to appoint a non-supervisory caretaker on a permanent contract. The post will involve regular and reactive site maintenance, compliance checks, opening and locking up and stock control.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated person to take on this extremely important role within the school.


This post is a variable hours contract from 10-30 hours per week, starting at 20 hours per week.


The post will involve initial starting hours of 7.30 – 11.30am. You will be a key holder, ensuring the security of the buildings and contents, health and safety monitoring and will be expected to deliver the full range of caretaking, maintenance and general repairs, cleaning duties and completing the relevant paperwork, as set out in the job description. This is a varied and interesting role and you must be able to work effectively as part of a team, be friendly, approachable, conscientious and have the ability to readily adapt to differing priorities and work well under pressure. Previous experience in general maintenance and health and safety regulations would be desirable.
