The Runaway Pea in Reception

Reception continued their topic of Once Upon a Time with the well loved story of the Runaway Pea! Children created their own story maps, sequencing the perilous adventures of the pea. Reception made paper traps for the pea using DT skills and then used spheros and iPads to try and catch the ‘pea’ (sphero)!

In Maths, children explored measurement using non-standard units of measure such as cubes. They made estimations then measured lengths of tape, discussing how many more cubes they needed to make it equal. They learnt how to begin measuring accurately at the base. Children compared heights and used pictograms to find out the classes favourite fruit or pet.
