Year 3 - Visit to the Sill

Year 3 Visit to The Sill – A Day of Discovery!

Year 3 had a fantastic day out at The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre. The children were excited to explore the permanent exhibition, where they learned all about the unique landscape, wildlife, and history of our local area.

One of the highlights was the beautiful Spell Songs installation, which brought nature and music together in a magical way. The children took their time sketching some of the artwork and scenes that inspired them.

We also ventured up onto the rooftop to take in the amazing views of the surrounding landscape – a brilliant opportunity to see geography in action!

During an archaeology workshop, the children learned how we can piece together stories of the past by examining what people left behind, including rubbish! It was a fascinating way to understand how historians and archaeologists work.

To finish off the day, we met a man from the Stone Age (or so we thought!). He gave an engaging and hands-on talk about life in prehistoric times, showing us his tools and sharing stories about how people lived thousands of years ago.

It was a brilliant day of learning and adventure – well done to all of Year 3 for their curiosity and brilliant behaviour throughout the trip!
