Friday 30 January 2026 Year 3 Week 4: Magnet Magic Today in science, our class became magnet investigators as we tested how strong different magnets are. We carried out an exciting experiment to see how far away a magnet could be and still pick up a paper clip.

Thursday 29 January 2026 Year 4 Hindu Visitor Year 4 were excited to welcome visitor Kirtida Devi Dasi from ISKON Hindu Temple in Newcastle into their classrooms this week. Kirtida talked to the children about Hindu beliefs, performed some music and helped them to do some philosophical thinking. Children learned lots and were able to ask some thoughtful and searching questions.

Tuesday 20 January 2026 Y4 TinkerCAD This week, Y4 have continued to investigate how to use TinkerCAD efficiently and effectively. Using Hogwarts Castle as the inspiration, they created viaducts, turrets and corridors. They used the duplicate button to recreate their detailed designs to incorporate them into other parts of the castle and explored how to create windows and doors in their designs too.

Friday 16 January 2026 Year 3 Week 2: Times Tables Go Top of the Charts What a rocking day we had celebrating TT Rockstars Stars Day! The school was buzzing with energy as pupils and staff came dressed as rockstars, pop icons, and musical legends – all in the name of mastering our times tables.

Thursday 15 January 2026 Year 4 - Philosophy for Children Today, 4W took part in an exciting Philosophy session with Anne de A'Echevarria. Anne is an expert in the Keystone pedagogy Philosophy for Children and works with both children and adults across the North.

Friday 9 January 2026 Year 3 Week 1: Back from Break We were delighted to welcome students back after the Christmas holidays, refreshed and ready to learn. Classrooms have been full of positive energy, and it has been wonderful to see pupils settling quickly back into routines.

Tuesday 16 December 2025 Year 4 Maths - Christmas Symmetry Today, Year 4 applied their understanding of symmetry to create beautiful Christmas tree patterns. They painted one side of the tree, then folded the paper to print the design onto the other side, successfully creating a symmetrical pattern with one line of symmetry.

Friday 12 December 2025 Year 3 Week 6: Patterns of the Amazon: Our Collaborative Creation This week, pupils across the year group have been working together on a stunning collaborative art piece, inspired by the vibrant patterns and powerful messages of Nixiwaka Yawanawá, the Indigenous Amazonian artist and activist. Using bold colours, natural shapes, and repeating tribal patterns, the children combined their individual sections to create one large artwork celebrating the beauty and spirit of the Amazon. The final piece is a breath taking display of teamwork, creativity, and respect for Indigenous culture.

Friday 5 December 2025 Year 3 Week 5: Santa Dash Today our school hosted the annual Santa Dash, and it was nothing short of amazing! The Sele was transformed into a winter wonderland as children, staff, and even a few very enthusiastic parents took part in the big festive run.

Thursday 23 October 2025 Year 3 Week 8: Wood You Believe It? EGGER Visits Year 3! To finish our half term in style, Year 3 were visited by representatives from EGGER, our local manufacturing company in Hexham. The visitors explained how EGGER turns wood into a range of useful products, such as chipboard and furniture panels, which are used in homes, schools, and workplaces all over the UK.

Friday 17 October 2025 Gingerbread Houses in Reception The Reception bakers were busy making gingerbread houses this week! Prompted by the houses on the Venetian waterside in the painting, children wrote lists of ingredients, mixed, squeezed, rolled, baked and of course ate, delicious gingerbread.
